Analyzer AOX TX EOX POX TS

Total Organic Bounded Halogens and Combustible Sulphur Analyser LTX 2000+

Our representative for Nordic nad Baltic market (Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithunia) - EMAL TECHNOLOGY

Short presentation of Analyzer of AOX/TX/POX/TS - LTX 2000 PLUS.

Sum parameters for organic halides have become to the most frequently accepted in many regulations.

The reason for the acceptance of these parameters is, in addition to the increasing number of individual xenobiotic halogenated organic compounds introduced into the environment by industrial, agricultural and other human activities, relative simplicity,  speed and a very good precision of the whole analytical processes used.

Different procedures used to separate these compounds or their subgroups from water and/or soil, sediments, sludges and wastes originated several conventional parameters:

  • AOX - organic halides adsorbable on activated charcoal
  • EOX - organic halides extractable by a specified organic solvent
  • POX - volatile organic halides, prone to stripping from water or suspension at 60°C
  • VOX - volatile organic halides apt to stripping at 95°C and sorption on TENAX from the vapour phase
  • TX - all halogenated compounds, including inorganic, volatile at the furnace temperature
  • TS - Total content of combustible sulphur form becomes an important parameter in petrochemical technology and in used oils.

Advanced Analyser

Analyser LTX -2000 with the modular accessories is designed for the AOX and TX determinations (with AOX, TX module) according DIN 38 409-H14 and ISO  9562 and for the EOX and POX (VOX) determinations (with the EOX module).

It operates on the base of oxidative microcoulometry, when organic halides are combusted in the stream of oxygen at about 1000°C, producing corresponding hydrogen halogenides determined subsequently by the aid of automatic microcoulometric titration.

Defined concentration of Ag+ ions is set in the electrolyte in the titration cell to obtain corresponding potential Ebias of the indication electrode. This potential is decreased, as the hydrogen halogenides  are introduced into the titration cell as a result of decreased concentration of free Ag+ ions reacting with halide ions X+ and forming insoluble silver halogenides (AgX). Silver generation anode of the microcoulometer generates then Ag+ ions at precisely set currents as long as the initial concentration of Ag+ and corresponding Ebias potential of the indication silver electrode is not reached again.

Additional TS module can be used in combination with either AOX, TX or EOX modules. TS module consists in the different microcoulometric titration system, namely with different electrodes and electrolyte.

Analytical speed, reliability and universality

The LTX-2000 analyser has been designed and constructed on the base of the most proved and advanced components (combustion furnace, electronic integrated circuits and controllers), ensuring high precision and reliability of the system at a very acceptable price. Robust and a custom-made construction is the warranty of a long-life reliable operation.

The special design of the titration cell and compact electrodes ensure simple maintenance and long life of the electrolyte. Water originated in the drying and combustion of the organic matter is trapped in the absorber and the electrolyte in the titration cell is thus not diluted. Heated furnace exit port prevents condensation of water vapour in the gas path and prevents absorption  of hydrogen halides there, thus preventing troubles in the titration steps.

Simple operation and data handling

The software facilitates the verification of the procedure by the yield test, in addition to the verification of the calibration of the microcoulometer.

The analytical result can be corrected either by running or mean blank and also by coefficient resulting from yield test for a series of analyses. The access to the previously measured samples is very convenient possibility.

All the data concerning the sample and the course of measurements are stored into the database and can be exported to MS Excel®.
